Agreed. It's better to stop while they're still going good, and use their expertise to create a new game/expansions, than keep bringing out chapters and die because only 1000 people bought chapter 15. With the Emo and the Skater as new professions.

They can't base it off any existing game because you only need own 1 of the 3 current campaigns and not any specific one.

Also they have said it takes place in the Far Shiverpeaks North of Tyria, which is new land, no?

On the subject of campaigns vs expansions, I like the idea of expansions because it let you develop a character along a single story and world, rather than having 3 stories/worlds and jumping between them. It's more cohesive.

Not to mention all the complexity that goes with having 3 seperate but connected worlds. ANet have created a monster. I really feel sorry for them in that regard.

the problem with new chapters is, they keep spreading the player base out. we're already like not enough butter over too much bread, so more full fledged chapters would make it worse. we are getting new lands to explore. we will be going to the charr homeland, northern shiverpeaks, and the tunnels and catacombs will be new. we will also be seeing some of the areas we couldn't get to in tyria before that were visible on the map(tarnished coast). i, personally, am digging the idea of the expansion. i like new skills, i liked the new professions, i have one of each(except a paragon), but i still tend to play more with my original characters, so the expansion is good for me. i can continue the storyline with my favorite characters. this is a chance to bring the masses together once again. /thumbs up

I remember,, when GW first came out the developers said that they were not making expansions, but chapters of the game itself. It would be like selling episodes, or Acts to 1 game. now they want to make an expansion, thats cool imo, but really, a chapter would have been better. Why you ask?

2 professions
new continent
starting location
much more skills
maybe another game changing mechanic like heroes did for example

Yes the reasons behind not making another chapter are clear, specially the lack of success that was expected but never happened. This of course can be related to the poor polishing, but that's for another discussion.

So what, ANet never said that they wouldn't bring a new continent. A starting location is pointless, there are already three, is that is enough. More than three is just WAY too much. Also, GW:EN will be like $10 cheaper so that is a HUGE advantage.

Why wining before something is out?

Did you really think Anet told us everything that will be in GWEN? And if GWEN is not a Chapter like the other Chapters, does this mean it is actually LESS then a Chapter? Also, GWEN will have a lower price.

I am actually happy ANet decided not to bring out Campaigns every 6 months, it is just too much pressure to finish in time for next campaign. And its not as if I only play on Thursday evenings.

As for Factions, the content is really less then other Campaigns, I agree with some of the posters above. But on the other hand, due to AB, FA and JQ, it has a bigger replay value, which you dont have in for instance Nightfall. (neglecting Hero Battles)
